How we use your information

This privacy notice tells you what to expect when stiven.co.uk collects personal information. It applies to information we collect about:

  • Visitors to our website
  • Job applicants and our current and former employees.
  • Customer and Supplier Information
  • Visitors to our websites

When someone visits www.stiven.co.uk, we use a third-party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behavior patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site.

This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our website, we will be upfront about this. We will make it clear when we collect personal information and will explain what we intend to do with it.

Use of cookies by Stiven

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added, and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.

We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about webpage traffic and improve our website to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.

Email Marketing

We use a third-party provider, Sendinblue, to deliver our e-newsletters. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry-standard technologies including clear gifs to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. Content Management System

We use a CMS developed by MTC Media to publish our website. We use a standard service to collect anonymous information about users’ activity on the site, for example the number of users viewing pages on the site, to monitor and report on the effectiveness of the site and help us improve it. People who contact us via social media

We use several social media sites. If you send us a private or direct message via social media, the message will be stored according to the Data policy of the respective site.

People who call us

When you call Stiven, we collect Calling Line Identification (CLI) information. We use this information to help improve its efficiency and effectiveness.

People who email us

We use Transport Layer Security (TLS version 1.2 or above) to encrypt and protect email traffic in line with the government. If your email service does not support TLS, you should be aware that any emails we send or receive may not be protected in transit.

We will also monitor any emails sent to us, including file attachments, for viruses or malicious software. Please be aware that you have a responsibility to ensure that any email you send is within the bounds of the law.

Data Storage 

Our customer and supplier data is held within DP&L Holdings systems and is processed and stored in the UK within a secure environment.

Job applicants, current and former Stiven employees

All information you provide during the process will only be used for the purpose of progressing your application, or to fulfil legal or regulatory requirements if necessary. We will not share any of the information you provide during the recruitment process with any third parties for marketing purposes or store any of your information outside of the European Economic Area. The information you provide will be held securely by us and/or our data processors whether the information is in electronic or physical format.

We will use the contact details you provide to us to contact you to progress your application. Under the Data Protection Act 1998, you have rights as an individual which you can exercise in relation to the information, we hold about you.

Stiven tries to meet the highest standards when collecting and using personal information. For this reason, we take any complaints we receive about this very seriously.
